MARRIOTT HOTELS IN PHUKET AND KHAOLAK HOST FIRST HELMET PAINTING TO RAISE AWARENESS OF ROAD SAFETY
Marriott Hotels in Phuket and Khao Lak Host First Helmet Painting in Khao Lak to Raise Awareness of Road Safety
.
Phuket, Thailand, 13 March 2020 – Marriott International’s hotels and resorts in Phuket and Khao Lak recently joined forces to host an important event aimed at raising awareness about road safety among local schoolchildren.
.
Following the success of similar activities in Phuket in 2019, a Helmet Painting event was held in Khao Lak for the first time on 11 March 2020, at Wat Khomniyaket School. This CSR initiative saw representatives from nine leading Marriott hotels join hands to help educate approximately 50 students about the importance of wearing a helmet while traveling on a motorcycle.
.
A total of 50 motorbike helmets were handed out to the fourth, fifth and sixth grade schoolchildren, who were able to paint the helmets with their own creative designs. Through this initiative, Marriott aims to play a part in reducing deaths and injuries caused by not wearing helmet.
.
According to data provided by the Asia Injury Prevention (AIP) Foundation and Save the Children, approximately 93 percent of children across Thailand don’t wear a helmet when riding to and from school by motorcycle with their parents or siblings. This means that every day, millions of Thai kids are risking their lives simply by going to school.
This valuable project forms part of Marriott’s ongoing CSR activities. Nine Marriott hotels and resorts from Khao Lak and Phuket were involved in this event, including:
.
JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort & Spa; Le Méridien Khao Lak Resort & Spa; Le Méridien Phuket Beach Resort; Phuket Marriott Resort and Spa, Nai Yang Beach; Renaissance Phuket Resort & Spa; Phuket Marriott Resort & Spa, Merlin Beach; The Westin Siray Bay Resort & Spa, Phuket; JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa; and The Naka Island, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Phuket.
