PHUKET IS CLOSED DUE TO COVID-19
PHUKET will be closed for a while due to COVID-19 crisis at the moment that effect worldwide. Phuket Governor made a decision not to close Phuket – but closing all the entrance way to Phuket (Land, Marine, Air) on March 29, 2020 as following:

CLOSED PHUKET’S BORDER: Announced on March 29, 2020 effective on March 30, 2020
The Governor of the Province of Phuket together with the decision of Committee of Communicable Disease of Phuket Province has continuously issued Announcements as the proactive measures to combat COVID – 19. However, it is evidenced that the disease transmission is still on the raise. In accordance with section 35 of the Communicable Disease Act, B.E. 2558 (2015), and article 2, section 9 of the Emergency Decree on Public Administration in an Emergency Situation, B.E. 2548 (2005) (version 1), the Governor of the Province of Phuket, as the Supervisor for the public administration in the emergency situation, together with the decision of the meeting session 11/2563 of the Committee of Communicable Disease of Phuket dated March 29, 2020, thereby mandates to close all of
the Province of Phuket’s point of Entry and Exit, with the EXCEPTION of the AirTransportation Channel, from 00.01 a.m. of March 30, 2020 to April 30, 2020

Then announce to closed Phuket International Airport on March 30, 2020 to close from April 10, 2020 until April 30, 2020 according to The Notification of the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand No.85/2020.

Title: Closure of High Risk Venues to curb the spread of the Coronavirus
Disease 2019 (COVID-19)

As the situation regarding the spread of the Coronavirus is unabated and has spread to many countries throughout the world, The Health Ministry announced on 26 February, 2020 that this virus is to be considered a high risk virus according to the Communicable Disease Act of B.E.2558 (2015).
The Prime Minister with the agreement of the Cabinet on March 25 therefore announced that all areas of Thailand are under a state of emergency due to the Coronavirus.

With regards to Phuket province, it is noticed that the number of cases is increasing at a fastrate, the Governor of Phuket Province according to the meeting session no. 12/2563 of theCommittee of Communicable Disease of Phuket dated on March 31, 2020, and in accordance with section 35 (1) of the Communicable Disease Act, B.E. 2558 (2015), and article 7(1), section 9 of theEmergency Decree on Public Administration in an Emergency Situation, B.E. 2548 (2005) (version 1)

Closure of all types of hotels and similar establishments which have permits according to the Hotel Act 2547 (2004), with the exception of hotels designated as hospitals and emergency venues by the Government for purposes of aiding in the fight and prevention of the Coronavirus.
With regards to hotels which are still occupied, such hotels are permitted to continue with their business until such time as all the guests have vacated their rooms upon which the hotel must be immediately closed.

Furthermore, hotels with guests must send a detailed list which includes
names and number of guests to the District Office. If any guest should display symptoms which indicate that they could be infected with COVID-19, they are to be immediately quarantined at a location designated by Phuket Provine.
Any person who violates or fails to comply with these regulations according to Article 52 of the Communicable Disease Act, B.E. 2558 (2015) will receive a jail sentence of no more than 1 year and fined no more than 100,000 Baht (One hundred thousand baht only) or both. Furthermore, they may also be penalized according to penalties stated in Article 18 (9) of the Emergency Decree on Public Administration in an Emergency Situation, B.E. 2548 (2005) (version 1).

This Order shall come into effect from April 4, B.E. 2563 (2020) until otherwised ordered.
