BANGKOK, THAILAND (30 July, 2019) – Mango Tree Restaurants Worldwide, the leading Asian restaurant operator, is celebrating after its flagship restaurant in China, Mango Tree Guangzhou, won yet another prestigious international award.

The upmarket Thai restaurant, which opened last year within the 530-metre-high Guangzhou CTF Finance Centre, has received the “Michelin Plate” award, as decided by the judges of the Michelin Guide Guangzhou 2019. This more than just an industry accolade; Michelin’s ratings are the global standard to which all restaurants aspire.

According to Michelin, the Michelin Plate is quite simply “the sign of very good food”. Judges base their decisions on the freshness of ingredients, the quality of cooking and authenticity of the dishes. Many establishments that achieve this status go on to gain a full Michelin star in future years, which is the ultimate goal of Mango Tree Guangzhou. This award demonstrates how the company is committed to bringing the highest quality Thai dining experiences to Chinese guests.

“We are thrilled that Mango Tree Guangzhou has been awarded a Michelin Plate. This is a real honour and a reflection of the world-class cuisine that our chefs craft on a daily basis. With our inventive dishes and spectacular location within one of the world’s tallest buildings, Mango Tree is raising Thai cuisine to the next level, both literally and figuratively. We are extremely proud of our entire team and we look forward to introducing even more diners to the finest Thai dining that Guangzhou has to offer,” said Trevor MacKenzie, Global Managing Director, Mango Tree Restaurants Worldwide.

Mango Tree Guangzhou opened in 2018 in the K11 Art Mall, an international lifestyle complex and cultural hub on the seventh level of the 111-floor Guangzhou CTF Finance Centre. Bright, stylish and spacious, with panoramic windows overlooking the city, this modern Thai restaurant became an instant hit with local and overseas diners.

The restaurant’s Thai head chef, Aphichat Traduangdee, has transformed the city’s dining scene with his innovative menu that blends classical recipes with contemporary cooking techniques. This allows diners to enjoy exceptional cuisine whilst gazing out over the glittering Guangzhou skyline. The restaurant is able to seat up to 147 diners in its elegant indoor dining room and dramatic alfresco terrace.

The Michelin Plate represents the second major award in recent months for Mango Tree Guangzhou; earlier this year, the establishment was honoured with the “2018 Guangzhou Best Restaurants by TATA” title, which celebrates the “best of the best” of the Chinese dining scene.

Mango Tree Restaurants Worldwide has identified China as one of its key target markets. With more than ten million Chinese now visiting Thailand each year, Thai cuisine is becoming hugely popular in mainland China – especially among millennial diners. In light of this, Mango Tree will continue to seek new opportunities to expand its footprint in key Chinese cities, including Guangzhou.

Mango Tree Restaurants Worldwide is currently undergoing a period of expansion, with the aim of increasing its global collection of restaurants from 70 outlets today to more than 100 locations worldwide by 2025.
